ABOUT TREOIR

Treoir, in partnership with its member agencies, promotes the rights
and best interests of unmarried parents and their children through
providing specialist information and advocating for their rights.
Treoir?s vision is an Ireland where non-marital families are
afforded the same legal and constitutional recognition and protection
as families based on marriage.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

There have been unprecedented legislative and social changes in
Ireland in the last two decades in the areas of children?s rights,
changing family structures, and family law. The work of Treoir is at
the heart of these changes. The Information and Policy Officer is a
key front-line position for Treoir. The officer works to deliver high
quality, specialist, relevant and tailored information for unmarried
parents. This involves daily interaction with unmarried parents
through Treoir?s telephone service, social media and drop-in
services. The Information and Policy Officer researches, develops and
contributes to core policies and the advocacy work of Treoir. The
officer prepares and disseminates information resources to various
target groups, liaises with other organisations working with unmarried
parents to develop partnerships and services, and contributes to
maintaining and developing relationships with funders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Prepare and produce targeted and specialist information based on
research and review of current and emerging legislative and policy
developments.
* Plan, produce, test and disseminate information materials and
publications.
* Develop, draft and review Treoir policy papers and submissions to
relevant government bodies including the Departments of Justice,
Social Protection and Equality, Children, Inclusion, Disability and
Youth.
* Act as secretary to Treoir?s Policy Subcommittee and draft
policy papers for its consideration.
* Publish articles that address misinformation and/or new
developments in relation to unmarried parents.
* Increase the involvement of Treoir?s membership in policy
development.
* Respond to information calls and requests, as required.
* Organise regular information briefing events for Treoir and member
agencies on relevant topics.
* Prepare advocacy materials and campaign for improvements in the
rights and circumstances of unmarried parents.
* Oversee the annual revision and dissemination of the Information
Pack, especially to all maternity hospitals.
* Contribute to the preparation of grant applications, attend funder
meetings, collect statistics and write reports.
* Input accurate data into Treoir?s database (Salesforce CRM
system).
* Contribute to the maintenance and review of Treoir?s data
collection systems in line with emerging themes.
* Assist with any other duties, as requested by CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS

* A relevant third level qualification is essential, preferably in
social science, equality, law, or applied social research.

EXPERIENCE

* At least 3 to 5 years relevant experience and a proven track record
in policy and information work.
* Strong drafting and report writing experience.
* Strong IT skills, including database management.
* Experience using databases.
* Experience of information provision to vulnerable groups and an
understanding of the issues relevant to unmarried parents.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Information and Policy Officer reports to the CEO.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This is a full-time post based on a **Apply on the website** hour
week. There is a probationary period of six months.

This post is dependent on the ongoing provision of resources from
Treoir?s funders.

LOCATION

The post is based in Treoir?s office in Dublin city centre. Hybrid
working options may be available. The role will require occasional
travel.

SALARY

The salary will be commensurate with experience and based on
